Rural Development
Our work in rural development focuses on improving quality of life and economic wellbeing in underserved communities, through close collaboration with local stakeholders, government agencies, and private sector partners

How we support rural communities
We design and implement programs that strengthen infrastructure, create economic opportunities, and expand access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and clean water. Every program is built with local stakeholders, government agencies, and private sector partners
By applying a sustainable development lens, we empower communities, promote local entrepreneurship, and support long term environmental and economic stability. We emphasize citizen participation and appropriate technology, so solutions fit local conditions and can be kept going by the people who use them
Our goal is to advance rural prosperity, reduce poverty, and promote balanced, inclusive development that delivers equitable benefit for all. It begins the way every SIDIA program begins: with listening, not assumptions, and with the people who live there
What is included
What Rural Development covers
Each part of the service strengthens a different foundation of village life, from household livelihoods to the local institutions that carry the work forward
Economic Empowerment
Creating economic opportunities in communities that have too few. We promote local entrepreneurship and work with community members, local government, and private sector partners, so income opportunities are shared fairly and help reduce poverty over time
Capacity Development
Building the skills and confidence that communities and local organizations need to lead their own development. We strengthen capacity, governance, and the sustainability of local initiatives, with strong emphasis on citizen participation
BUMDes Development Support
Support for BUMDes, the village owned enterprises that turn local resources into shared benefit. We help them strengthen capacity and governance, so they can operate well, serve their villages, and stay sustainable
From listening to lasting rural prosperity
Every rural program follows the same connected path, so that local needs lead to solutions the community can keep
Community needs assessment
We listen first. Through consultation with community members and local stakeholders, we build a shared understanding of real needs, local resources, and priorities
Plan with local partners
We design the program together with village leaders, government agencies, and private sector partners, so responsibilities, resources, and timing are clear to everyone
Implement and strengthen
We put activities into practice, from infrastructure and livelihoods to access to essential services, while building the local skills needed to run what is created
Measure and sustain
We track results with the community and adjust as we learn, so benefits are equitable and last beyond the life of the program
Results based design is becoming the standard
Communities in underserved areas need programs that are built with them and that can show real results. Evidence helps partners direct resources where they matter most and prove that change lasts
